Shoulder pain can make everyday activities difficult, from lifting and reaching to sleeping comfortably at night. At Petts Wood Practice, we provide personalised shoulder pain physiotherapy for patients across Bromley, Petts Wood, Orpington and surrounding areas, helping people reduce pain, improve movement and return to normal daily life.
Understanding Shoulder Pain
Shoulder pain can develop gradually through overuse and strain, or suddenly following injury or physical activity. Because the shoulder is a highly mobile joint, problems can affect movement, strength and day-to-day function quite significantly.
Some people experience stiffness and restricted movement, while others notice sharp pain when lifting the arm, reaching overhead or sleeping on one side.
Common symptoms include:
- Pain when lifting or reaching
- Shoulder stiffness or weakness
- Discomfort sleeping on the affected side
- Pain spreading into the upper arm or neck
- Reduced movement or flexibility
How Physiotherapy Helps Shoulder Pain Patients in Bromley
Physiotherapy focuses on identifying the cause of shoulder pain and restoring normal movement and strength through targeted treatment and rehabilitation.
At your first appointment, your physiotherapist will assess how the shoulder, neck and upper back are functioning together to understand what may be contributing to your symptoms.
Treatment is tailored to your condition and recovery goals and may include hands-on therapy, mobility work, stretching and exercises designed to improve movement, stability and strength.
You’ll also receive practical guidance on posture, activity and exercises to help support recovery and reduce the likelihood of the problem returning.
